Hello WFCU Members! We have some exciting news to share with you – over the next couple of weeks we will be upgrading your debit cards! All WFCU members that currently have Debit/ATM cards will be receiving a new WFCU EMV Chip Card that will also feature a brand new design on the front, which you can see a sneak peek of below!
Why are we doing this?
In addition to the exciting new design and the fact that we are seeing more and more merchants using chip-activated terminals at their registers every day, your security is always a top priority of ours! Your new chip enabled card will provide you with greater security as well as additional protection against fraudulent activity.
Your new card, just like your current card, can be used anywhere VISA debit cards are accepted! Simply swipe your card as you do now or insert your card and follow the prompts if a chip-activated terminal is available. When you use your new card this way the embedded chip generates a one-time use code, which is virtually impossible to counterfeit and helps reduce in-store fraud.
What else should you know?
We have a few other very important things to share that will help ensure this conversion goes as smoothly as possible.
First, all WFCU members with a current Debit/ATM card will be issued a new card starting October 16, 2017. These Debit/ATM cards will have a new card number and new PIN number that are different from your existing card. Your new card and PIN number will arrive separately so please pay close attention to your mail so you don’t miss either of them!
Next, you may activate and begin using your new card on November 6, 2017. Please call the number on the front of the card to activate it. (1-800-543-5073.)
*Note Merchants/ATMs will not accept your OLD card AFTER November 6, 2017. Please destroy your OLD card by cutting it in half. *Do not destroy your old card until your new card has been activated.
Also, your card number and expiration date have changed. Please be sure to notify any businesses of your new card number/expiration date that charge your card regularly, such as gyms, subscriptions, insurance providers, etc.
And finally, your Personal Identification Number (PIN) has changed. You will receive a separate mailer with your new PIN. Once your card is activated, if you wish to change your PIN, you may do so by following the instructions on the mailer. You will need the PIN provided with your mailer to create a new PIN.
We are proud to serve our members and we really want this exciting conversion to go as smoothly as possible! We are hoping to reach as many of our members as possible so if you read this post or learn about the upcoming conversion in some other way please be sure to let your friends and fellow WFCU members know – we would certainly appreciate it! In addition to this post, information can be found on the new Debit/ATM cards on our website (link below) and on our social media pages. We have also sent out an email blast, post cards in the mail, we’ve placed posters at both of our branch locations and our staff is standing by ready to answer any questions you may have! You can also call us anytime during regular business hours at (734) 484-5100 if you have further questions. Thank you and we hope you enjoy your new EMV Chip Cards!
